You made me think of something I haven't thought of in a long time, and now I'm going to have to blog about it. (No, it's not about Karl Marx or ordering a la carte!)
I agree with you….but I’m no longer the target audience that publishers are catering too. Between retcons and poor storytelling, options to read are limited.
I agree with you 100%, I barely read comics anymore because I’m not the target audience the publishers cater to. I pulled out the B & W Showcase collections of Sea Devils, Rip Hunter Time Master and Challengers Of The Unknown and it reminded me of how much I used to love comics. Now, it seems that the publishers are catering to a specific audience…with diminishing returns.
People really do spout some ridiculous crap online, don't they? Marxist! 🤣
Comics, like any other form of literature or art, will change over time due to lots of factors. So to anyone getting angry about it: shut up! There's a ton of comics out there, new and old. Stop reading stuff you don't like and find or revisit the stuff that appeals to you. Pretty simple!
Online comics COULD go more of a menu route - give the buyer options, kind of like an old "Choose Your Own Adventure" book, at the time of purchase and have an "AI" 'chef' take supplied art and text and build ('cook') the desired book based on buyer "menu" choices. Would probably be more work than it's worth but might work for some (and make the menu analogy valid). Otherwise, it will always be "like buying stuff from a bookstore, only with more pictures"

Looking forward to reading about it!
Now I'm hungry for a steak and baked potato. Thanks Colleen. :D

It's only the most tangential of connections ...
I share your sentiments Colleen.
